There is a very active racing scene at Craven Sailing Club, and whilst it is competitive at the front of the fleet, there is great camaraderie at the back! All are welcome to race and racing is one of the best ways to hone your sailing skills. There is also an active youth sailing scene with of all abilities from complete beginners to regional squad members; with a special youth end of year trophy, whatever your ability, please feel free to come along. Check the Calendar for dates / times and details of the races. There is a varied programme sailing programme centred around a number of series: Spring and Autumn series - best 4 results from 6 races in each series
Summer series - best 4 results from 6 races
Tuesday series - best 4 results from 6 races
Club Championship - accumulated score from Spring, Summer Autumn and Icicle
Personal Handicap - best 5 from 8 races
Cavendish Trophy - accumulated score from 3 Tuesday series
Craven Pot - accumulated score form the Brass Monkey Series
Icicle Series- best 6 results from 12 races
Pursuit series - best 5 results from 8 races
Veteran's Trophy - best helm (55+) in the Cavendish Trophy
Junior and Youth Trophy - best performance under 16 and 19 respectively
In addition, you can find a number of Trophy days in the calendar. There is a small charge for trophy days, but entry to the rest of the races is free.
As a club we are signed up members of the RYA Racing Charter. This means we do our best to:
provide run, fair and safe racing
treat competitors with courtesy and respect
act promptly to resolve protests or disputes
